Kids cricket

Kids cricket is back at Broadway Cricket Club!

Last summer we were delighted to introduce the All Stars and Dynamos cricket programme at Broadway CC for children from 5 – 11 years old.

All Stars & Dynamos is an activity and game-based cricket programme from the English Cricket Board and is suitable for all skill levels. Its aim is to provide children with the foundations to begin a lifelong love of physical activity and cricket, while making friends in a safe and enjoyable environment.

We had a whale of a time last summer with a great mix of local boys and girls at the cricket club on a Thursday evening running, throwing, catching, and generally having fun in the evening sun.

The parents seemed to enjoy it too - either by having an hour to themselves in the glorious surroundings or by being coerced into some of the activities!

We had two months of cricketing fun and wrapped up the final session of the summer with a family barbecue (and impromptu waterslide!)

We enjoyed it so much we’re doing it all again this summer and would love to welcome some new faces.

Our budding Joe Root’s or Tammy Beaumont’s will receive a personalised cricket pack when joining All Stars and their own cool T-shirt for Dynamos.

All sessions will take place on a Thursday evening from 6pm and the programme will run for 8 weeks. The clubhouse will be open for refreshments for parents and siblings.

Our first fun-filled session will take place on Thursday May 11th and we would love for you to come along and join us.

All-Stars: 5 – 8-year-olds

Dynamos: 8 – 11-year-olds

To register a place, please visit: https://ecb.clubspark.uk/AllStars/At/broadway

We are an inclusive club at Broadway CC and our aim is to make cricket accessible and affordable to any local children that wish to come along and play. If you have questions about any aspect of All Stars & Dynamos, please contact Jemma on 07909 837452 or email info@broadwaycricketclub.co.uk.

Where to find us: We are a mile out of the village on the Snowshill Road, just past St. Eadburgha’s at the foot of the hill.

BCC - COVID-19 -Nets

Announcement of the availability of Net practice at Broadway.

Nets will be available for use at Broadwayy CC on Saturdays & Sundays. They will be operated in accordance with the ECB recommendations relating to exercise outdoors. A new booking system has been put in place so that the nets are operated in accordance with these guidelines. It can be found at : https://broadwaycc.simplybook.it/v2/ - booking is available to all members who have paid their 2020 subscriptions, set at £10 for both juniors and senior members. This booking system is in a pilot stage and anyone who encounters difficulties should contact Carlo Carenza to make a manual booking.

From the 30th May it is hoped that one of the nets will be available with a bowling machine to increase the benefits of pre-season preparation and to allow single use of a net where required.

Covid-19 - Update

Due to the Covid-19 situation the 2020 season will not start on 2nd May. The club is currently closed but the ground/wicket preparation will continue so that cricket can resume as soon as is safe. The latest ECB announcement indicates that no county cricket will be played before 1st July - it is therefore unlikely that recreational cricket will resume before July 4th.

The Edge

It’s primarily a matter of squad management - England’s rise to No 1 in the rankings is described firsthand by the flinty Flower, circumspect Strauss and key personnel (droll James Anderson, larky Graeme Swann), each deployed, as on the pitch and in their subsequent media careers, to find some new angle on the often grinding and convoluted business of five-day cricket.

Here is the link to the offcial trailer https://youtu.be/z4jf9_HnBnk
