AGM outcome
Posted by Nobody on 5 February 2016
Considering the way the 2015 season finished, and with the general morale around the club, a very amicable AGM was held last night (4th February) as the club looks to begin the rebuilding process following the loss of several senior players.
The decision has been made to maintain two Saturday teams, a recruitment drive will be needed to do this and player availability needs to be a lot better than last year.
Several changes of club officials, and the changes are as following:
Club president: Bernie Donoghue replaces Michael De Navarro
Chairman: Dave Williams replaces Bernie Donoghue
Vice-Chairman: Pete Brockbank takes over this role
First team Captain: Steve Wheeler with Matt Phillips as vice-captain
Second team Captain: Carlo Carenza with Andy Beale as vice-captain
Bar Manager: Adam Smallman
Fixture Secretary: Steve Wheeler
Committee: Kris Maiden, Chris Close and Danilo Mendoza have been added as committee members in addition to the above officials, plus Bill Bailey (who remains as treasurer), Marion Brighton (who remains as secretary) and Howard Grove.
Selection Committee: We need more transparency in team selections this year, so a committee has been made up of the two captains and vice-captains, plus Dave Williams.
The loss of several senior first team cricketers has left a big void, so the rebuilding process won't be easy. We need to go back to making us one club again where the firsts and seconds enjoy each others success and company. With the loss of so many 'first team' players, then 'second team' players will inevitably need to play for the first team this summer, so transparency is selection is vital. We want to make this an enjoyable club to play for, and not throw people into the wrong team - to make up the numbers - where the game isn't enjoyable, this happened too often last season, and is something we will address. Players will be selected for the teams on merit, and there should be no bickering between the sides.
We are running an under-13s side as the only junior side this year. We will again hope to make Friday nights a success, as they have proved a success in recent years.
We are also going to make the clubhouse a more social and welcoming place. We will be looking to get a TV installed (with the Euro's and Olympics coming up this summer) plus wi-fi, which is an essential part of modern life !!
A positive feel was definitely taken away from the meeting, which is a nice change after two turbulent years !!
