The 2013 end of season Broadway Cricket Club awards evening and dinner was held last Saturday, 19th October at Broadway Golf Club
The after dinner speaker was former Middlesex & Durham cricketer Simon Hughes, who is now a commentator on Test Match Special, as well as previously having worked on Channel Four. Simon told several stories on playing with famous ex-cricketers such as Ian Botham.
Five Awards were handed out on the evening, and the winners were:
Junior Player of the Year: Will Kelley
Bob Lanchbury (most improved Junior): John Farnworth
Second Team Player of the Year: Warren Marston
Presidents Cup: Gary Evans
First Team Player of the Year: Gary Evans
Gary Evans was the big winner on the night, scooping two well deserved awards.
A raffle and an auction of promises was held with funds raised for the Club and a Disco (and ''a few'' drinks) ended an enjoyable evening.
A big thanks to all the people involved in the organising of the event and to all the people who have helped behind the scenes during the summer. Not too long until next season starts.......
