Humpston to leave club

Broadway have confirmed that Marcus Humpston has left the club to join Cotswold league Division 2 side Badsey.
Humpston joined the club in 2008 and soon became a key member of the first team, scoring 931 runs in total in his 1st season. He was a vital member of the promotion winning side in 2009, taking 26 league wickets, including his club best 6 for 29 Vs Bidford, but undoubtedly the highlight of his time at Broadway was the club record innings of 228 Vs Kineton in 2010 - an innings which will live long in the memory of anyone who had the privilege of seeing it. This innings helped Humpston score more than 1000 runs in total in 2010.
During the last 2 years of his spell at the club, Humpston concentrated less on his bowling and developed his wicket-keeping. Following a poor year with the bat in 2012 (like so many other batsmen around the leagues - due to the wet weather), Humpston returned to something like his best form - especially in the first half - of the 2013 season. During his time at Broadway he totalled 4,163 runs at an average of over 30, as well as taking 140 wickets at an average under 23.
We wish him the best of luck at Badsey.
