About Jack
Jack played for Shropshire Under-17s as early as July 2004, scoring 64 at the top of the order against Yorkshire Under 17s. Shantry comes from a cricket family, with father Brian (Gloucestershire) and brother Adam (Northants, Warwickshire and Glamorgan) both having played at first-class level. He made several appearances for Shropshire Under-17s and also played for Shrewsbury Cricket Club appearing in the Cockspur Cup and the Birmingham and District Premier League.
In 2007 and 2008, Shantry progressed to a mixture of senior cricket at Minor Counties level with Shropshire and Second XI cricket for Worcestershire County Cricket Club. He made his senior debut for Worcestershire in a PRO40 game versus Essex on 23rd August taking the wicket of Ravi Bopara. Two days later he made his maiden appearance in first-class cricket for Worcestershire’s clash with Nottinghamshire. He hit two first-class centuries – the first of them, 101 not out in a narrow win against Surrey at New Road in September 2014, in the same game in which he recorded a 10-wicket Championship haul.
No-one will ever forget that promotion sealing individual performance against Surrey when he rescued a lost looking cause.
