Weekend Preview

Broadway go into Saturdays away game at Shipston looking to end a run of 5 matches without a victory and pull themselves away from the relegation battle.
When the fixtures were released before the season started, a run of 4 fixtures against leading sides Bretforton, Wellesbourne, Earlswood & Exhall looked difficult, but the club didn't expect to lose all 4 games and a washout (albeit with the team in a promising position) Vs Elmley Castle didn't help matters.
Shipston - buoyed by the signing of England bowling coach David Saker (who is unavailable for this fixture) - currently lie 4th in the division, following promotion last season. However they have won 3 matches, compared to Broadway' 2, so Broadway know that victory will pull them right into the mid-table zone.
Broadway are expected to make 1 change from the side which were in a promising position v Elmley last week. Nigel Evans comes back into the side at the expense of new signing Tim Morris, who made his 2nd debut last week. Club captain Barry Clements is still about a week away from full fitness, so will not be risked.
After back-to-back defeats the 2nd XI host 2nd in the table Welford. The 2nd XI were slightly unlucky to lose last week vs Exhall 3rd XI, with a short boundary and several edges going for 4 and 6. However a disappointing top order batting performance was a major reason for losing. Luke McDonagh scored 83 not out at number 6 in the batting order and can expect to move into the top 4 of the order. The side remains unchanged from last week.
