The 2012 cricket season
Posted by Nobody on 8 March 2012
A warm welcome to a new, exciting and we hope successful 2012 cricket season. Thank you for the fantastic support given by so many volunteers in 2011. Together we make this cricket club a great place to play and enjoy the game we love. Please continue to support the club in 2012.
2012 is a big year for Broadway Cricket Club. Off the pitch we welcome a new Chairman, Bernard Donoghue. Bernie brings his wealth of business experience to the role and we wish him every success during his tenure. On the pitch we aim to improve again this season with the 1st XI looking to build on their 4th placed finish in the Cotswold Hills Premier Division last year. The 2nd XI has a fantastic set of talented players, a mixture of youth and experience whom we have high hopes for during the coming season.
Our junior section continues to go from strength to strength. Junior coaching evenings begin Friday 27th April and we hope to see the same volume of families and kids in attendance. This season we have entered an U14’s team into the Cotswold Hills League structure in addition to the now established U12’s. More volunteers are always welcome, if you would like to offer your services, however small the contribution, please contact us. Contact Karalee Evans with any questions for the juniors.
Thanks again to the local businesses who have committed to advertising with us this season, your support is appreciated. We are also extremely grateful to the support of our loyal Vice Presidents and our ever-growing team of volunteers.
Finally, over the winter the club has been able to make some great improvements to changing facilities and internal décor of the pavilion. Please come and take a look at what are some fabulous new facilities. Our aim is to further improve the facilities and as a club we will continue to fundraise in order to make this happen. Your support and commitment to this is greatly appreciated!
Please take a look at the key dates on our events calendar on page X and add dates to your diaries such as fixtures against the President’s XI, the Artist’s XI at the end of the Broadway Village Arts Festival and Club Day. Following a successful evening last October we will again be holding an End of Season Dinner on 29th September, details to be confirmed.
Good luck to all Broadway Cricket Club members throughout 2012. Here’s hoping for a successful and enjoyable season.
